Maureen Loughran joined Spain, Spain & Varnet in January 2016, after having earlier clerked for the firm during law school. Maureen attended law school at DePaul University College of Law where she received her Juris Doctor and Certificate in Family Law. Maureen was a Dean’s Merit Scholarship Recipient, Dean’s Certificate of Pro Bono Service Recipient, served on the executive board of the Child and Family Law Association and the Student Advisory Board of the Schiller DuCanto and Fleck Family Law Center while at DePaul. Maureen is certified as a mediator through the Center for Conflict Resolution and has mediated small claims cases and landlord tenant disputes in Cook County. Prior to joining the firm as an associate, Maureen practiced at a suburban boutique law firm specializing in probate, special needs planning and elder law. During law school Maureen also clerked for the Center for Disability and Elder Law and was a 711 licensed law clerk with the Cook County Office of the Public Guardian in the Adult Disabled Estates Division. Maureen completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she received a dual Bachelors of Arts in Spanish and Honors Distinction in Political Science.

Maureen concentrates her practice in guardianship, general probate, traditional and special needs estate planning, and real estate. Maureen is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association. Maureen regularly volunteers with the Chicago Bar Association’s Wills for Heroes program, and Camp Kesem, a national organization that supports children through and beyond their parent’s cancer.
